O'Reilly Media is offering an opportunity to win a wish list. The list cannot total more than $500 (and, of course, contain only things in their catalog). Contest aside - I'd probably buy half of these in the long run anyway - it's an interesting exercise to consider what would make the cut. Here's what I came up with:
Ajax Design Patterns
Michael Mahemoff
Algorithms in a Nutshell,
George Heineman, Gary Pollice, and Stanely Selkow
The Art of Capacity Planning: Scaling Web resources
John Allspaw
The Art of Concurrency: A Thread Monkey's Guide to Writing Parallel Applications,
Clay Breshears
Database in Depth: Relational Theory for Practitioners
C.J. Date
Enterprise SOA: Designing IT for Business Innovation
Dan Woods and Thomas Mattern
Java Database Best Practices
George Reese
Masterminds of Programming: Conversations with the Creators of Major Programming Languages
Frederico Biancuzzi and Shane Warden
Regular Expressions Cookbook
Jan Goyvaerts and Steven Levithan
REST in Practice: Hypermedia and Systems Architecture
Savas Parastatdis, Ian Robinson, and Jim Webber
